Q&A with Andrew Miranda

California School of Education at Alliant International University

Master of Arts in Education in Special Education and Teaching

Professional Information

Special Education Teacher at River Springs Charter School in Temecula, CA

Q: How did your Alliant experience prepare you for your career path?

A: My Alliant experience was great. I was able to get my credential and master’s degree while being able to work in the field of education. In a short time, I was able to get an intern credential, which allowed me to begin my work as an education specialist while working on my credential. I feel that experience was very valuable in helping me become the teacher I am today.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your work?

A: I enjoy being around my students the most. I did not think I would want to work with the early elementary-aged children but I am loving it. It has been great being able to watch them grow and find ways to learn even with having learning disabilities. I enjoy getting to know each student and all their different personalities.

Q: What inspires you to make a positive difference in the world?

A: Growing up I had such great teachers who made a huge impact on me. My goal as a teacher is to become someone who can make a difference in a student's life. I want each person to grow as a person and love learning as much as I do.

Q: Share your advice for current students.

A: My advice to current students is to be a sponge and take in as much information as you can from other students and professors. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. If you are able to work or volunteer in a school setting, don’t be afraid to ask questions from experienced teachers. There is always something to learn and ways to improve.
